There will be four happening events at this year’s C4 Convention, one each for 1) Connecticut, 2) New Jersey, 3) Vermont, and 4) Colonial Currency. These events will take place Friday evening starting at 7:00 pm in Baltimore Sheraton Hotel Room TBD (check ColonialCoins.org or the on-site Convention Program for the latest information). All C4 members are welcome to participate, subject to available space. There will be approximately 10 chairs at each table and one table for each event. Members must contact the event leader in advance to express interest in the Happening Table and secure a seat. It is first come, first served. Food will be provided by the club sponsor — coffee and water will also be provided (other beverages will be available for purchase at the nearby bar). All events will take place simultaneously, so you must choose which one you want to be involved in. For security purposes, only those actively involved will be permitted in the room. Participants are asked not to bring extraneous numismatic items and not to leave their coins or paper money unattended. Participants agree to be responsible for their own items. The club is not responsible for your possessions, whether numismatic, electronic, or otherwise.

Event #1: Connecticut Happening. Table Leader: Chris McDowell, email: CRMcdowell@strausstroy.com

Topics for the Connecticut coinage happening will include 1) Stepney Hoard coins, 2) Over-struck Connecticuts (i.e. various under-types beneath a Connecticut copper) and 3) 1788 Miller 1-I Small Head variety (Ryder 39). Note that Chris will be giving a talk on the Stepney Hoard the prior evening.

Event #2: New Jersey Coinage Happening. Table Leader: Matt Virga, email: MVirga01@gmail.com

The happening will cover the study of specific “No Coulter” Maris varieties: The 10-G, 11-H, 11.5-G, 12-G, 12-I and 22-p, to view the different die marriages. There will be a period of time to show off any other “No Coulter” varieties not mentioned, as well as any other variety of your own choosing, for show & tell. You need not bring every variety to participate.

Event #3: Vermont Coinage Happening. Table Leader: Jeff Lipsky, email: JHLipsky@aol.com

Large die-break Vermont coppers will be studied in this happening, focusing in on Ryder 18, 21, 22, 26, 28 and 29 varieties. Attendees are encouraged to bring as many examples of these varieties as they wish. One does not need to have all varieties to participate.

Event #4: Colonial Currency Happening. Table Leader: Leo Shane, email: Leo_J_Shane@hotmail.com

The topic for this happening is “Interesting Vignettes on Colonial Currency, excluding Continental Currency.” All are encouraged to bring one or more colonial notes and give a 1-2 minute explanation of the meaning behind the vignette. This will be another interesting and fun session!
